Global Alliance of Community Forestry

Community Forestry Presentation 24.04.2007
The Global Alliance of Community Forestry, GACF, gave a presentation of the organisation, their vision, mission and important positions at the United Nations Forum on Forest. The presentation was given by Mr Ghan Shyam Pandey at the side event held jointly between GACF and IFFA at the 7th session of UNFF at the UN headquarter in New York 23 April 2007.

Community Forestry Encounter 13.11.2006
The Global Alliance of Community Forestry (GACF) held their second international encounter in Nepal in October/November 2006. GACF decided to constitute a Global executive board with members from all six continents. Main tasks of the board will be to promote community forestry program and gain and retain the users’ forest management and use rights.

The organisation also developed a ten-year vision, mission, strategies and work program to shape the future direction of GACF. The issues of community forestry will be raised at the up-coming United Nations Forum of Forest (UNFF-7) in April 2007.

International Press 19.11.2006
The News Agency Intern Press Service has published an article on the Nepal meeting of the Global Alliance of Community Forestry (GACF). - One of the most grassroots of people's movements has planted an international seed, the Agency declares.

The article describes the situation of Community Forestry, and covers some of the problems that Community forestry faces in areas with rebels fighting and in other areas where lack of paper work endanger the relationship with governments.

The article quotes Peter the Marsh who represented IFFA at the meeting.

The Global Alliance of Community Forestry is the organisation for community forestry worldwide.

Family forest owners and people in community forestry share the same goals and vision for forestry and sustainable forestry management. 

Family forestry and community forestry share the same basic viewpoints in international forestry arenas.

The organisations will look for possibilities to cooperate in political and practical issues.
